Ares Gold Connection ProblemsThere are 3 possible reasons why Ares Gold cannot establish a connection to the Ares network.
If you can send and receive email and browse the Internet, you are connected to the Internet. If not, you will need to establish an Internet connection by following the instructions provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
If you are using a software firewall such as ZoneAlarm, McAfee Desktop Firewall, or Norton Personal Firewall, you will be prompted to allow or deny Ares Gold access to the Internet. This may happen several times because Ares Gold needs to establish a number of outgoing and incoming connections.
You will need to accept all requests by Ares Gold to access the Internet.
If you denied Ares Gold access to the Internet by mistake, you can reset the permission rules in the control panel of your firewall.
There are 2 patches available to improve P2P connectivity on systems running Windows XP SP2.
The first patch is from Microsoft and can be downloaded here.
The second patch is a third party patch to increase the number of available TCP connections. Following are instructions on how to download and install the third party patch.
